Tom,
I’d go to CJ.–

Anyone know the ‘‘best’’ source for new frame rails? Don’t suppose any of you
have a new set (Series 1) just sitting around you don’t need???
Regards

Tom, CJ has really nice looking frame rails @ about $950.00 each as I recall. I have a pair sitting on my garage floor that i’m trying to work up the energy to install. Check out CJ’s website. NAYYYYY.

Be sure and take her for a nice long but measured drive before you start
pulling things. A job like this has a way of getting way out of hand,
and you want something nice to remember before you turn her into a box
of parts for a year. ;^)

I’ll call you when you get started so we can swap tales. I can hardly
wait
to pull the engine and all the other stuff—yeah—sure!
Yeah Tom, I’m really excited about the prospect of installing the frame rails. I’ve become quite adept at rationalizing excuses for not getting into it. At the rate I’m progressing, yours will probably be done before I even get started on mine :-(.

Larry,
For what its worth department: I was corrected by Dan the Man himself once
for asserting you had to remove the engine and tranny to replace them. I suspect
he is thinking of replacing a side at a time maybe while le engine hangs on a
hook or is otherwise supported. There are advantages to that, especially if
you’re a mechanic trying to make a living and doing it quickly puts beans on
the table.
