[E-Type] Heater Core

Unfortunately I have already deleted the post from my in-box, but someone was having problems with a loose tube/pipe on a heater matrix. After finishing my e-mail, decided to browse a bit . . .

I decided to check out eBay, inverted the lisitng to see the newest offerings and there it. Just posted and starting at $60. It is claimed to be NOS for Series I/II.

That was me Craig - thanks for the info. If I can, I’d like to
salvage mine as the shipping will probably be expensive to the UK :o
(

Thanks, Paul.–

Hello Paul,

The heater core is in construction method no different from the
radiator, which you can use to your advantage in this case.

There is a matrix core with two tanks soldered onto both sides.
Any competent radiator shop can remove the offending tank and
give to you to straighten out the spigot and then solder the tank
back on. You can take advantage of the procedure to have them
rod out the core from any deposits at the same time.

I had leaking matrixes replaced while recycling the side tanks.
A lot cheaper than a complete new heater core. Matrixes are
standard generic items.

Hi All!

Has anyone ever seen a heater core like this one?

One of the 2 pipes have been crimped off on the one end. On
the other end, a copper pipe added…

This cant be OE, is it?

Bob, that is not original. It is an attempt to get ‘‘cross flow’’
through the heater core. The tip off is that if the factory did
something like this, they would not have used an elbow and a
straight pipe. They would have done a one piece pipe with a bend.–

Guys I have an extra fresh overhauled heater core for a series 2 E-Type if
anyone needs one. Just send me a email to @DR_s_EType. I’ll sell it
for the cost of the overhaul.

Regards,
Dick Russ
