[E-Type] I found the project car-64 OTS 881012

Thanks to all who offered tips on a project car. Thanks to list member George
Potiris I did find what I think is the most rustfree OTS I’ve seen
(disassembled).
Nice thing about an abandoned WIP, is that you can see everything pretty well
exposed with the interior out. Its certainly in better shape than my 877878
was. Looks like the major parts missing are a 3.8 bellhousing (it has a
synchromesh with the 4.2 bellhousing with a 3.8 starter and ring gear which doesn’t
all go together too well! It does come with some spares though (2 spare bonnets
which woud make one great bonnet between them),several doors, rebuilt engine
and carbs (no bills or recepts for engine, but it’ll be all coming apart
anyway. The sills appear to have never been replaced, the boot floor and floor pans
are solid and the cowling hasn’t been bent.
I’m sure there’s a disaster there someplace, but compared to 877878, at least
it will be diferent disasters.

Has anyone yet mastered a source for Op Maroon?

Thanks Again,
Mike Moore

Mike,
That didn’t take long! Did you find it locally? When does it
come home?–

I believe the conclusion we reached when Eric-the-Bastard was looking
for the colour was that late 80’s XJ Crimson is the same colour,
different name. Do an archive search for both his name, and Clive
Wilkinson, Clive was the one who suggested it. Dates in the archive
should be around the end of May, 2002.

Hi Ray,
It has to be moved from Stockton. We’re negotiating now as the owner is
leaving town Thursday for 2 weeks-so Barry my son (who will own the car in Dallas
someday) is planning on flying back from Dallas in maybe 3 weeks and I’ll rent
a uhaul van truck (for the boxes of stull and the 3 bonnets) with a car
trailer, Should be an adventure if you’d like to participate!
Best regards, Mike

Mike, the truth is that you were experiencing withdrawl symptoms as
you didn’t have grime under your fingernails, smashed knuckles,
sore muscles, parts sourcing adventures, and the three AM eye
opener when the committee that meets while you’re asleep to screw
up your life when you’re awake either thinks they have the solution
for the newest concern or just thought of a new problem.
I really think you put your son together so you can feed the need

Do you have pictures of either of your cars yet? I looked in the
snaps area and on xkedaya.com but I don’t see anything in either place.–
