[E-Type] Oil pressure Gauge converting to wet line (requirements)

Hi guys
I have made the switch from the standard unreliable ‘electric’
oil gauge to the dependable wet line gauge.
For the benefit of other forum users here is the short list of
requirements.
Pressure gauge pipeline.
I used a 60’’ stainless braided (MSE 040/6) with 1xBSP male
cone fitting and 1xBSP flat washer fitting.
1X BSPP Male bulkhead 60 degree coned adaptor. One end has
long 1/4’’ BSP thread with lock washer.Other end is standard
1/4’’ BSP flat washer fitting. I wanted a ‘long thread’ to go
into the filter housing block to minimise risk of breaking
outer thread wall which is quite thin. Here I used a copper
washer tightened down by the locking nut, after I had fully
threaded the connection into the filter block.
Attached to the top of the above filter block fitting I used a
Female 1/4’’ BSP reducer with a male 1/8’’ BSP on other end to
accept the cable end.I used a little PTFE tape on the 1/8’’
male thread of this reducer.
Started up and found no leaks or signs of oil weepage.
Total cost (all new items above from ebay) approx 30 inc del
sterling. This is approx half of the price I paid for my new
sender unit which failed after 50 odd miles since fitting it.
Hope this will be of help to someone.

Hi Eugene,
I changed mine a while ago and I am also pleased with the
result.
However, remember to check the connection at the gauge a
few times and every time you might open the centre panel
for any other reason.
I had a small leak which ruined a brand new radio.

Good point Chris. I am comfortable re my set up due to the 45
degree angle on the gauge and the braided line having the extra
length to position so that it is coming from across the rear of
the centre dash rather than from the bulkhead / firewall.
This has reminded me I forgot to mention in my opening post
that I sleeved my stainless braided pipe with cable wrapping
just in case it would make contact with any live wires.
