[E-Type] S1 Brake Pedal Adjustment

I’m assembling my pedal box before mounting into the car
and am wondering if anyone has a rough idea of the degree
offset of the brake actuating arm to the pedal. I realize I
will probably have at least one correction after mounting
the hydraulic cylinders but, who knows, I might get lucky.
A quick archive search mostly dealt with where the pedal
should be positioned, not how to accomplish this.
Thanks–

Gary,
I’m in the middle of a major refurb of my car and I have the pedal
box, still fully assembled and as yet untouched, that I could take
some pics of and send them to you if you think that would do any good.On Wed, Jul 9, 2014 at 4:48 PM, gbrinker gbrinker@parrottalk.com wrote:

Hi Les,
That would be helpful if it’s not too much trouble One view
from the right side showing the pedal and the actuator link
would be great.

Gary,

Mine is positioned just right – when the brakes are
applied the pedal is just right for heel-and-toe. I took a
wild guess, and as you said I had to open it up again to
reposition. I didn’t have to disassemble everything
though, just enough to move the shaft out past the splines
and then back in.

Very different setup on a 4.2 Jerry. No splines, thank
goodness.–

Gary,
You might want to set the pedal as far into the footwell
as you are comfortable with. It improves the relationship
between accelerator and brake. You can achieve a similar
result by shortening the push rod. I cut about 8mm off
the push rod and put a 12mm spacer behind the clutch
master which gave a lot more room in the footwell for
increased comfort as well as heel and toe shifting.–

Don’t put the pedal too far down. When I put mine together
the M-C push rod was not returning all the way, locking the
brakes after a couple pushes. For a short-term fix I
shimmed out the M-C. Come to think of it, those shims may
still be in place…–
