[E-Type] S3 speedometer failure

I have a '73 S3 E-type. speedo quit. I found the trans angle drive
mangled so replaced it. Worked for about 20 miles and quit again.
SNG advised to check cable. It was fine. ended up with speedo out
of car. the two angles and cable on bench seem to work. turning
the speedo at back of unit seems very stiff. where does one go to
get this looked at/fixed? I am in Canada.–

Morning Bob,
Sorry, don’t know of any places in Canada but I have used both
Nisongers and Moma’s in the US.
Cheers,

How was it mangled?
My speedo started fluctuating and then stopped dead. I found
the angle drive endplate had come off and some of the parts
‘‘departed’’ from the unit.

Now I am wondering if the speedo unit could have caused that
somehow.

Sometime in the next 10 years I will need to know this.–

i have checked the angles drives and the cable and all seems to be
in order. the speedo unit seems stiff to operate, so i’m guessing
it’s in there.
i see Xks unlimited will rebuild your speedo - will ask them. also
have a guy in British Columbia who has rebuilt my oil pressure
guage and calibrated with the sender so will check with him as
well.–
