[E-Type] Silverstone, Monterey, next year, and ME!

Here’s GREAT news! I want to share this with Listers so we can show
up in force, at next year’s Laguna Seca vintage races!
This comes from Chris Jaques, the current owner of my parent’s old
XK 120 race car, known on this side of the pond as ‘‘the
Silverstone,’’ but more properly referred to as ‘‘LT-2,’’ one of three
lightweight 120s made for the 1951 LeMans 24-hour race. To wit,
here’s is Chris’ latest email to me:

‘‘Yes, we are still planning to bring the old warhorse over [from
England] to Laguna Seca next year, and have even made hotel
reservations already. My offer still stands as you know!’’

I never got to drive LT-2 before M&D sold it in 1974: Chris
graciously offered to let me drive it a lap or two next year. The
plan is for me to drive to Laguna Seca in Tweety: however, with the
lateness of my move and the REAL lateness of getting up my ‘‘Garaje
Mahal,’’ I may not be able to make Tweety driveable in time. I
WILL be there, in ANY case, even if I gotta drive my Hoondai
there! Hope to see all you listers who can make it there! Let’s
make it a part-tay! Pascal, gunna drive out for it?..;))–

I’ll be there, and in fact I’ll renew my previous offer: If you share
the driving (and possible wrenching!) you can ride with me in the
65E. The trip from Seattle is one hard day, or two easy ones (done it
many times.) I’d even donate a RT ticket from Denver (as I have a
zillion FF miles.)–

Wigster,

Looking forward to it. I’ll set up a listers’ dinner for us at
Monterey (in good time this year), and we can figure out how to all
get together. The local JAG club always has a JAG corral right on
the track (it’s free), and I can make sure that all our listers
bringing Jags can park there – and we can use the pavilion and
refreshments as a lister get-together place, too. We’ll work out
the details next year. This is gonna be FUN!
