[E-Type] Something nice enough to kick a Jag out of the Garage

My X-type has been kicked out of the garage in favor of a
new occupant. Just arrived is a 1964 E-type 3.8 coupe. My
father sent it up from California. Something I always
admired as a child is now something I get to tinker with as
an adult. What a dream come true.–

Welcome Mr Barrister (we use first names here mostly)

Did your dad put the car on www.xkedata.com yet? If not,
give it a try. Also, did he send you a manual and spare
parts book? Worth getting and studying, plus the little
owner’s handbook if you’re new to the car and it didn’t
come with one.

If you amend your profile to add you car model and year,
plus maybe your city, you’ll save having to answer car spec
and location questions.

Welcome again

JD, welcome to the best club ever. And since the 64 is the
best year for the e-type (c’mon guys, you KNOW it is!),
you’ll learn to love this place rather quickly…
especially when you understand that ‘‘love’’ equates to ‘‘needs
met’’ a lot of the time as you learn your car and discover
the incredible wealth of knowledge here and the wonderful
willingness to share it. Hope you get your car up to speed
quickly.

Lucky you!!! Congratulations on the new arrival and even more special
that it was your dad’s car! I don’t recall dad having any cars I
would especially like to have but no matter if I had one I’d cherish
it.

It is apparently the week for inherited treasure, as my dad sent “our”
XK-140 up last Tuesday. It’s great to pass on these family
traditions.

Its a most excellent week indeed  There are several here that have
the family heirloom, sadly most don’t go that way. I see many more
for sale by family because the patriarch is gone or ill. Tho that’s
the normal way of things, each time I see it I feel a little pain.
