I cannot find any speakers to fit my car. The apertures in the body
are a fraction over 5.25 inch diameter and the fixing holes are a
fraction over 12 inches apart.
The closest speakers I can find are only 5 inche which makes them
just a little too small to reach the fixing holes. The next size up
is 6 inches which is too big. And because of the shape of the
aperture, the speakers need straight edges rather than the usual
round shape
The other problem is that they need to be pretty shallow to clear
the rear wings behind.
What fits?
Thanks

As far as depth, these are the thinnest ones I’ve been able to find anywhere.
Check out the “overdrive series”.
Regarding fixing holes. Are you sure you aren’t looking at the width of the speaker? Generally that is the figure they are quoting you when they talk about speaker size. You either have to dig deep into their fact sheet, or write and ask them to find out what the actual mount spacing is. If they are off you may be able to rig something up anyway.

I bought a pair of 5" speakers and then made adapters to let them fit the
holes.
I made the adapters from Plexiglas (Perspex?) acrylic plastic which I cut to
the shape of the original speaker face. Then I placed the new speakers on
the plastic and drilled the mounting holes for them, and cut a hole the size
of the new cone. By the time I was done there wasn’t much left but a thin
ring of plastic, but it holds the speakers just fine.

My original radio only had one speaker, on the drivers side. It was a rather thin, 4 inch round speaker mounted on a piece of hard cardboard like material.
It must have been original as it was die cut to fit the speaker and the surround. If I can find it, I’ll post a picture of it.

Did you manage to find the spaekers to fit your 2+2 if so which
size and model.I have been told pioneer has some 4’’ x 10’’ which
should fit in the slots in the boot of our cars.

Hello Alberto
Where are the slots in the boot? Can’t see any in mine other than
the access panels to fuel pump etc.–

Yep those are the two openings I reffered to.One is the pump
inspectionhole the other the petrol pipe inlet.
Nevertheless I must confess with a small amout of surgery I have
managed to fit two 4’’ x 10’’ speakers in these holes.–
