[E-Type] Weeping Valve Cover Thru Stud Hole

I have a weeping ribbed valve cover (non chrome cover). The “tears of
oil” comes out between one of the valve cover studs and the valve cover.
Does anyone have a fix worked out for this problem?

TIA,

or don’t put oil in it…

Pull off the cover inspect for cracks , set a straight edge on mating
surface and use new copper washers

Daniel,

Thanks for the reply. The problem turned out to be a bad copper washer
that the PO had “corrected” by adding a rubber O ring under the copper
washer in an attempt in an attempt to stop the leak. Needless to say,
the O ring had gone to pieces and allowed the weeping to occur. One new
copper washer is in order.

I had the same problem and used the plastic washers that are used for
V12 cam covers, instead of the brass washers. Success was 100% and much
less torque needed to tighten the covers down. If you do not want to use
the plastic washers you could coat both sides of the brass washers wilh
non hardening gasket goo.
