Early Mk2 horn grills

How do I remove the “fake” horn grills from the front of my 1960 Mk2? A lot of grunge (bugs, dirt etc.) have accumulated behind them and I would like to clean that up.
As always, thanks for any advice.

I think there are two nuts attached to bolts on the back of the chrome pieces. As usual, these will be a bit of a challenge to access without twisting your hands in all sorts of ways. I don’t think engine out, but close!

On a side note; Could someone with a plasma cutter cut out the panels behind these faux grill and provide a lot of extra ventilation to the engine compartment?

Gerard

Thanks Jag_Man.
Interesting idea about the plasma cutter. It would also stop the accumulation of road debris, bugs and the like.Cheers

We cut the faux grills on my MX 10 years ago with a die grinder and the guy had a very steady hand. There are very importance lifting springs in that area you do not want to ruin. Those holes allow a lot of air to enter the area.
