Electric power steering for Series 1

I am referencing to the car’s longitudinal axis, with the schematic assumption it is parallel to the ground, at ride height.

Yes. The smallest error - either by someone banging into the column or bending in some other way will be multiplied as the distance increases. On my car everything looks OK. It is remotely possible that they are “like that”, as the angle makes the wheel clear your hands better relative to the a-pillar. This seems to be what ‘Wiggles’ may imply.

Interesting: really did not know EPS dated back as far as some of those articles state.

Dear Mr. T
Excuse the late reply - I’ve been having trouble with my jag-lovers sign-in. The reasons for the interest in electric power steering are: 1) I’ll be 88 next month, and 2) the car is fitted with 205/65 Dunlop P4000’s and I find steering at low speeds is a challenge. The electric power steering units which I am looking at use the existing rack and pinion so at low boost (the units are speed biased), I expect the feedback will be unchanged.

Thanks,
Joe B.
