I’ve tried to search the forum for 4.0 straight six head gasket replacement information. I have not been successful. How the F@#^ do I search for a subject ? Direction toward the information will also be appreciated. I am looking for a list of things to check, repair, and replace while I am doing the head gasket.

Go to the XJ40 forum, plenty of info on there 
There are TWO different 4.0 engines and they are slightly different.
You do not post the MY but the AJ6 and AJ16 head gaskets can be interchanged.
The later head gaskets should be the updated type to reduce the chance of oil leaking from the exhaust cam feed hole (block-to-head) that was a problem for BOTH engines.
I suggest a MY or more info on the car you have for a better, more complete response.
One or both of those engines use torque-to-yield head studs which can only be reused once. After that they must be replaced.
