General reminder about H-series SUs

Twice a year–spring, fall-- I lubricate the high idle “piston”, the link that often gets stuck, on the side of the carb. I just use a screwdriver and push down against the spring, and simultaneously squirt in the general direction of the link. Make sure the eccentric on the bottom gets back into its little trough, otherwise you will have a 4000-rpm idle!

Best lube Ive found is Kroil/PB Blaster, and the like.

I completely agree. On the carburetors I got from a well used Mark 10, that fast idle cam rod was the most difficult thing to free up. It required heat and patients not to destroy the carburetor body.
