Has anyone lowered their MK2?

I’m looking into lowering mine, but am running into several issues. I’m hoping someone here has experience there. I saw a couple of posts about lowering attempts by shimming the rear springs without a noticeable change. It looks like some MK2 racers are lower, but how do they avoid rub?

Why would you want to bugger about with a classic . It’s fine as it is :scream:

I for one think they look better, my pet hate is big gap’s between tyre and arch , along with plastic horn pushes on a nice wood and alloy steering wheel

I lowered my front end by putting 3/8" steel spacers between the spring plate and the lower control arm (with appropriately longer grade 8 bolts). That plus new coil springs and the car sits nicely lower in the front. I have all poly bushes and bigger sway bar so nothing rubs it’s fairly stiff.

The rear sits too high with new leafs, haven’t figured out yet or experimented with lowering that yet.
