Headliner on a Convertible top

replaced the top on our 94 jag a few years ago and the headliner was in great shape so we didn’t switch it out. Now it’s starting to fail. Any words of experience out there about changing the head liner - only?

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible to change the headliner without removing the top. Here’s some pics from when I did my top and you can see the headliner attached/ wraps around the cross bars. The pad and then the top are placed on top of this.
