Hello. Can someone tell me what this fella does? There’s an identical one on the other side of the engine too. Also - the connector is damaged, engine end of the wire. Any idea how to go about replacing it?
(I may be able to 3d print this piece, haven’t tried yet). Thanks in anticipation! Bob P.
Your’s is a newer model than mine, but based on the location, I believe that is the VVT solenoid. There would be one on both sides.

As darbysan stated, that is an ACTUATOR, not a sensor.
A dab of black silicone sealant will hold it in place as a temporary fix (sometimes a permanent fix?).
I’ve seen ‘zip-ties’ and all sorts of repairs for the broken harness connector.
