Can someone tell me how many teeth on an XJ6 ring gear? Can I use an XJ6 starter in my E Type with a 133 tooth ring gear? I am getting information that the XJ6’s have the same ring gear or they have a 134 tooth ring gear.

The auto ring gear has an extra tooth and is slightly larger but i always read that the starter is the same. The size difference is taken up by the auto bellhousing locating the starter a little further outwards. The starter is the same, both the good old m45g and the newer cheaper lighter 3m100 should fit.
