Has anyone had experience with the gearbox mode warning light coming on and knows what the issue is and what service will solve the issue?

You’re going to have to get someone to pull the code for you. They’ll need something that can pull Jaguar specific codes. Most shops should have something…your local Advance Auto will not.
Could be as simple as a stalled out engine, or something much worse.
