Ignition coil position on a 420G

Hi, can anyone tell me where the ignition coil is fitted on a 420G
Nigel

Hi Nigel

According to George C who has one - RH side down by the radiator–two fixed nuts on inner wheel well

Thanks Pete
Now I now to leave the 123 distributor leads at full length and give him a long coil lead

Unless you are going for concourse, does it really matter where one mounts the coil. On my MK2 I have it away from the stock location to keep it more in the flow of cool air. These things an build up heat and fail.

It has worked well for many years tied into a full Petronix dizzy setup.

It doesn’t: in my roundy round race car, which was rotary-powered (MASSIVE heat generators), I had the coils mounted in the driver’s compartment, away from heat and vibration, with ~4-foot long coil wires!

Same for condensors, on old points ignition systems.

on my RHD 420G, low down on the inner RH guard, and yes it does need a wire annoyingly longer than most standard coil-dizzy wires supplied in a kit

Sounds like the early XJ6 location.

there are a couple of pre-drilled holes for the bracket

@ paul, believe ur correct,previously had a '70 and '71 XJ6, both SWB, wish I still did
