I have an intermittent problem with the cruise control in my 2001 X-Type where the system works ok for a short time then suddenly cuts out. Has anyone had this same issue and how was it corrected.

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to when it is ok and when it is
not. I can sometimes put it on an it will be ok for 50 or 60 km then
suddenly it will cut out and not go again for quite sometime. At the
moment it is not operating. I recently had a service on the car and
before that it was operating intermittantly but since the service it has
not operated at all??

Check for a bad ground. Does anything else act up when the cruise control is AWOL?
No only the cruise control, eveything else is OK
I believe (but could be wrong) that the cruise control uses one of the sensors for the ABS, so the fault wouldn’t be the sensor as the ABS light would come on if it were.
Cruise control is designed to cancel when the brake is pressed. It could be a relay from that control causing the problem.
