[jag-news-discussion] Has Anybody Heard ANYTHING?!?!?!

Yowza All,
Has anyone heard anthing about the status of the sale to Tata
Motors? Judging from the content of the Jag Lovers Forums nothing
is happening.
Won;t assume for obvious reasons but… since the
creditors/lawyers have not been in the news with anything that
might be questionable, is it reasonable to assume the sale will go
through?
I hope the disgruntled dealers who were unhappy with the
possibility of a sale don’t cause a change but the time elapsing
since the original notice of offer seems excessive. It seems
excessive inasmuch as there have been far bigger corporations
aquired in a much shorter amount of time using finacial resources
that had more basis in fiction than this offer from Tata.
Has anybody heard anything?
Later, Good Health to All, Bob Lovell–

DETROIT (AP) - Ford Motor Co. and India’s Tata Motors Ltd. are
nearing an agreement for Tata to buy Jaguar and Land Rover,
according to a person who has been briefed on the negotiations.

The deal is likely to be announced in February, perhaps as early as
next week, but could be as late as the Geneva Motor Show in early
March, the person said.

Ford Chief Financial Officer Don Leclair said last week the company
does not plan to keep a stake in the storied British automakers.

‘‘Our plan right now is to sell the business in its entirety,’’
Leclair said in a telephone interview with British newspaper the
Financial Times. Ford spokesman Bill Collins confirmed the quote as
accurate.’’–

BANGALORE (Dow Jones)–Tata Motors Ltd. (500570.BY) may spin off
Jaguar into a separate business entity after buying the loss-making
automaker, along with Land Rover, from Ford Motor Co. (F), the
Economic Times reported, citing unnamed sources.

It added that while Land Rover may be integrated with Tata, the
Indian company would prefer to keep Jaguar separate so as to keep
its losses off its books.

Earlier this month, Tata Motors - India’s second-largest passenger
vehicle-maker by sales - said it hopes to sign an agreement in
the ‘‘forthcoming weeks’’ to buy Jaguar and Land Rover.
