On a 350mi canyon carving drive this weekend, my XJR had people
surrounding it while no one paid the Viper or Sky Redline that came
with me a second glance. As I walked away from the car to shake
hands and say hello, people wandered past me to go look and take
pictures.

The dealerships wanting a Bentley fighter are hoping for something
that will never come.

I’d like a no frills Jaguar convertible or hard top with less
luxury and leather with great balance, light weight, 6spd, and the
engine from the X-Type R. The same things you would expect from an
Elise after spending time around Lou Ferrigno. A real Jaguar
sports car under 3,000lbs that carries the older Jaguar traditions
of value for money, performance, and style into the modern age.–

This is really the best news I’ve heard about Jaguar for some
time. Mr. Tata is correct in thinking that the people who know the
strengths and shortfalls of the brand are the dealerships because
they deal with the customers. What a novel idea! It sounds like
they are taking a sincere interest in the dealerships input.

I’m hoping Tata can handle the brand adequately and take it in a
much different direction than Ford attempted to take it. The brand
still has a lot of things going for it that have been neglected for
so long.–
