Can anyone tell how reliable the S type is. I am just about to buy one…
Generally very good. Mine has 230,000 miles. I think the Ford ownership was very good for Jaguar. Many components are the same as Lincoln LS so are readily available in the US retail outlets and from online sources.
Rust in the underbody can be a problem, especially in salt regions.

Temperature -26F (-32C) here today and the S-Type started!
Had to warm up about 5 minutes before the trans would engage Drive.
Tires kinda lumpy at first, I guess they take a set overnight when its that cold.
Heater worked pretty good after about 10 minutes.
