Jaguar XJ6 S1 windlace install

having trouble installing the Moss Motors windlace on my S1 XJ6. i got the B pillar portion installed without too much trouble. i’ve searched and the only adive i could see was to start at the rear of the car. I’ve tried that with no success. Can’t seem to get the windlace to open and clamp in place. when installing the b pillar portion, i used a small rubber mallet to coax the windlace in place. this isn’t working on the other portion. any advice would be appreciated. thx in advance

Jay, is that the furflex that goes around the door openings?

yes. seems to have different names for some reason

Okay, so if you have got it started you should have to hit it with a hammer but if it’s far too tight it may be necessary to spread it a little before installing. I‘ve bent an old, loose one closed and reinstalled, and I hammered it home pretty hard. You can always bend it back again, and if it’s too tight a chisel on one side and a hammer to the other.

Wow, didn’t expect i’d need to get medieval on it. i’ll grab the bigger mallet and a chisel. thanks for the advice!

…As Murphy says, Jay; “Don’t force it - get a bigger hammer”…
