I was technicaly challenged with auto air conditioning until I found this
site recently:

If your clueless with auto A/C and you’ve never been to this site- now’s
your chance to become an expert. Plenty of helpful schematics and tips at
this site on using R-134 in an R-12 system without changing the seals etc.
