[Lumps!] spongy brakes

Hello All,
We installed a new master cylinder, vacuum booster and front brake
pads. We flushed/bled the system with a mityvac. Now the brakes feel
spongy. After a couple of pumps they start to feel better but the first
pump the pedal goes all the way to the floor and the brake light lights.
Checked the fittings and the lines and nothing is leaking. So where did I
screw up? Does this sound like I didn’t bench bleed the master cylinder
correctly? Or did does it sound like I got air in the lines when I was
flushing the system?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Daniel, Before I finished reading your post I was thinking maybe
you didn’t bench bleed the master, but then… Did you also
bleed the rear wheel cylinders? You’ve some air in the system, I’d
think it is hungup in the master, I’d pull if off again and do some
more bench bleeding. On a related note (power brake vacuum) I
recall reading in Mike Knell’s book on conversions, by Jaguars that
Run, that alot of times people don’t put in a one way valve that
keeps the gas fumes, from the intake system from reaching back into
the brake booster. This lets the fumes deterioate (sp) the
diaphrame (sp) I never heard of this mentioned on the lumps page.
Good Luck, Gary–
