Mk IV tail pipe

Is there any detail available for how the oval part of the tail pipe is configured? My guess is it transitions from the round cross section over just the last 20/30 cms and that it is offset to the top to provide a bit more ground clearance for dips and gutter crossings.

Has anybody made these as an accessory to fit over a cut-back pipe?

Rock Auto has an oval chrome exhaust pipe tip with 2" ID. Part no. XWT200

Summit Racing also carries it.

Thanks Rob, I’ll do some trawling. I have had a few occasions where the tail pipe tips scuff and I think an extra inch higher would be an advantage.

Another alternative is to fill the pipe with dry sand and crush it in the bench vise.

I’ve thought of something like that too. I have some oval tube section that I may be able to do the opposite - reform one end to circular. Work in progress - only in the thinking stage for now. I’m sure there would be a market for these by enthusiasts if they could be made by a production process.
