So, while trying to finally get in a drive on this new-to-me Mk10, I stirred up a bunch of mud in the right gas tank and had to remove both tanks for resurrection. On pulling the sender units, both were stuck, but freed-up with a bit of fiddling. Unfortunately, the right sided unit (C23055) is electrically non-operational and has a leaky float. I have not found a replacement online. Can anyone recommend a rebuilding service or source for new?
carefully pry the tin can apart and clean and check for electrical connectivity, resolder if needed…I have had a fair success rate in resurrecting dead NLA units
epoxy the rotted float, or replace it with an epoxy covered cork
as you should have external pumps, fit 2 inline filters
POR15 works well on the Jag tanks
I’ve found new floats online that will work, and I might tackle the repair - it’s a simple mechanism. Too many projects. I think I might make the car mobile with a portable marine tank while I properly sort the originals. It’s a job worth doing…once.
