Mk2 1967 jaguar positive or negative

There is quite a bit of body work fitting fat bumpers too the back , front is just bolt on !

My clock has negative earth written on it.

Although I’ve not heard this before, it looks like the Jaguar stayed with a dynamo and +ve earth while the Daimler got treated to an alternator and -ve earth.

Bit odd but from the content of this thread it’s looking that way.

Every day is a school day!

When I bought my 1967 Mark 2 3.4 from its second owner in 1989, I was informed it had been converted to negative earth to handle the fitment of a ‘modern’ (then) AM/FM cassette player. In 2002, when I asked my mechanic at the time to install a Pertronix electronic ignition in the distributor, he called me several hours later to say he needed more time, as he had assumed my car was fitted from new with a positive earth system, and only when he looked, did he realize a conversion to negative had been done by the PO. He had his usual parts supplier deliver a negative earth replacement, which performs flawlessly till this day, now hooked up to a modern cd player.
