Quick question please chaps. is a manual O/D gearbox from a 2.8 XJ6 suit a mk2? the ratios don’t look that different to me just wondered if the gear level position is wrong?
I have a XJ6 gearbox going into my ‘64 ‘S’ from memory I had to change the g/box top to move the gear lever to a more applicable position.

Just remembered that I had to adjust the gearlever a bit to clear the drivers seat for when the wife drove the car so she could get into top gear. I’ll take a phot shortly and post it.
Yes a bit further back but perhaps split the difference if you can source a top plate to suit.
