Posts sent to the new lists will be stored in the archives of the new lists.

Feel free to subscribe to as many lists as you like! All the new lists will
also be available as digests:

xk8-digest@jag-lovers.org
s-type-digest@jag-lovers.org
x-type-digest@jag-lovers.org

Please use our automated subscription utility to subscribe to the new lists.
Be sure that your e-mail is set up so that you are sending mail using the

It was the “Fag Jag” thread that finally pushed it over the edge wasn’t

Thank you. An excellent development. Now I hope we can at last (and for
good) escape the banal and tedious exchanges which have plagued the modern
list recently. People who must bang on and on and on about their particular
‘hobby horses’ spoil the list for practical people like me who simply want
to exchange information about our Jaguar cars. I really don’t think badly
spelled and half-digested discussions of inordinate length about peripheral
or abstruse matters are of the slightest bit of interest or entertainment.

Steven Corbett

Patsy,

You have done a great job. I remember discussions in the past about
splitting the lists and I guess it is time. The Modern List has been
wonderful and your administration has been excellent.

The Modern List has been a bit different that the XJ list. The difference is
that we all have time to discuss minor burps and pauses in our cars. The XJ
list was worried more about keeping the beast on the road and running. I
guess that is why there seemed more of a camaraderie when I drove the SIII.
It was kind of the same thing you do when you’re out on a country road riding
your motorcycle. Most times the riders give a friendly wave or nod to each
other.

I immediately noticed a difference in camaraderie once I got the XJ40. When
you drive the SIII’s and another SIII passes by, there is usually a wave or
nod to each other. At first I continued this camaraderie but after a while I
stopped waving after people would gave me enough strange looks back at me. I
miss that camaraderie. Maybe we can all remember we are all a community of
Jaguar drivers. Be it a brand spanking new 2002, an XJ40 or an old SIII, we
all have the same Jaguar disease. Sorry to say there is no cure for Jaguar
disease.

May we all have a great Jaguar driving day.

Thanks to everybody for all the kind messages. It’s been an honor and a
privilege to serve as listadmin for the Modern List, and to do what I can to
help people. I’m sure that the new lists will continue the tradition of
friendliness and generosity that has characterized the Modern List.

Hello all,
Thanks and kudos to the entire Jag-lovers technical gurus, and special
thanks to Patsy for her expertise and help. I look forward to the exchanges
continuing on the Modern list.
I guess this might get me bounced from the list, but I saw an X-Type up
close this weekend (one of my fellow seminar attendees had just picked hers
up on Thursday) and it’s gorgeous! She is very happy with her car and spent
a good amount of time looking over my '88 XJ40 and remarking how beautiful
it was.
There’s another convert in Jaguar land, and I hope for the good of the
marque that lots of other people discover our beautiful cars. When I get my
next Jag (possibly the end of this year) I’ll be looking for a newish VDP,
just because I want that level of upscale trim or possibly a V12 (yes, I
know…)
On the age subject, I lusted after Jags for many years before buying one. I
bought my '88 a couple of years ago, and I’m in my late 30’s.
