[modern] Farquar fixed!

Bad MAF sensor.

I replaced it, and the car started and idled nice and smooth.

The new readings are…
Maf output signal at idle 1.62 volts…
Co2 trim 2.55 volts…

I guess 1.2 is not enough, even though the Jaguar diagnostic says it
is within range.

Test drive tomorrow morning!

I took the old maf apart, and got the circuit board out.
There were signs of a lot of moisture inside it, under the board.
Minerals had built up quite a bit…
There is a vent built in the connector, so keep moisture away.
I think its condensation though, from all the changes in temperature.

It got so cold out here, one of my exhaust pipes fell off its hanger.
(under 20F)
I made it a bit longer at the mufflers, as its getting even colder
I am sure…

Hopefully the fix will hold, and the cold power loss during acceleration
is fixed as well…

Well Hooray!

Interesting that the bad unit appears to have been within specs, certainly
doesn’t make life easy.

Hi Brett,

Bad MAF sensor.
I replaced it, and the car started and idled nice and smooth.

GREAT, it is fixed!

Test drive tomorrow morning!
have a nice trip, and enjoy it!

Also, take a moment to realize that you would almost
had sold the car… :frowning:

Hmm, bad for electronics.

Still strange that the ECU did not put out an DTC code.

It got so cold out here, one of my exhaust pipes fell off its hanger.

Brrrrr… Icy.

Hopefully the fix will hold, and the cold power loss during acceleration
is fixed as well…

Now up to the next problem

Congratulations Brett, we always knew that someone with your tenacity would
prevail in the end, with all you’ve done this time there can’t be much that
you don’t know about these cars.
Take a few days off and take your patient and understanding wife out for a
wonderful meal. I think she deserves that as much as you do!

OK Brett, my check for $6000, your asking price a week ago is on it’s
way…

I’m happy for you Brett, plus you’ve learned a LOT at the same time,
this is priceless.

Congratulations!!!
How come I’m not surprised that you have had your “fun” with the taking it
apart and figuring why it was bad.
The company I work for we are to figure out the the root cause of the
failure and come up with the repairs to eliminate it. Not owning a Jaguar
isn’t the solution either. Got any ideas? for the rest of us, maybe.

Enjoy driving once again,
