[modern] Oil leak 93XJ40

I’ve got a leak around the area that looks like the power takeoff for the
distributor and power steering pump. I haven’t yet purchased a manual–seen
lots about CD-ROMs and Haynes. What’s best?

Are there any gaskets or seals I should be looking to replace in addition to
what looks like the obvious culprit once I have it apart?

Jim

The biggest culprit there is the head gasket leaking right where the timing
cover & head gasket meet at the engine block.

Jim,
Its the head gasket that typically leaks around that area.
Two cans of oil stop leak can correct the problem
in some cases, although who knows what it does to the
other engine seals.

Some people have been running the stop leak for years…

I just replaced the head gasket, as there was other things
I wanted to do/prevent…

Brett,

According to my owners manual Jaguar recommends Bars Leak for radiators
and stop leak for oil with changes

Jay,
They used to, but have not for a long time.

I am not sure why they recommended the barrs leaks, maybe
as a water pump lube more than any cooling system leak.

I never heard of them recommending oil stop leak.
