This sounds like you have managed to retrieve the instrument panel
date code. Someone once told me what keys to press to retrieve
the code but I must have deleted the email since I can’t find it
to confirm the message displayed.
I would do a clear (hold down the “M/C” button until “MEMORY CLEARED”
appears on the VCM) and see if that resolves the problem.-

Subject: [modern] VCM PACK NO 079599Can any one tell me what code/message is Pack No 079599 means
(88 XJ6 VDP)? I can sort of recall some posting a couple years ago
about this. Did notice some surging in the engine/speed when this
display came on. Otherwise nothing else seem wrong. No other codes of
any significance are showing. Even tried switch ignition to retrieve
other codes and nothing showing.Thanks
