Motec ECU M800 - V12

Is anyone running a Motec M800 ECU to control fuel and ignition on their V12s.

My Series 2 XJ5.3C has one on it but I know very little about them so I am interested in hearing about others experiences with this system.

Mine has issues when the car is cold but works great when the engine is warm - unfortunately there are few experts on this system local to me.

Thanks

Garry

I guess no one - one one hand that is not a surprise but on the other hand I am surprised as it works so well when programmed right.

no experience here, but you may find answer to your cold start issues on a Motec forum more easily than on the Jaguar side .
Motec is known to be very good hardware, but as most systems, it need some real knowledge to get the best of it.

Iā€™m in contact with someone building a replica in UK who got Motec support through the internet, and IIRC the specialist was based in Australia : do you want me to get more information and pass them to you (if possible) ?

The cold start issue will just be a map issue that can be corrected. Yes I have the Motec forum information and will look at this further - just interested if there are other Motec V12s on the forum.

Thanks

Garry

I have a Motec M4 on my 1979 XJ-S.
The engine is an HE I rebuilt many years ago.
The M4 was one of the early Motec products, I think it was bought about 30 years ago. Still works fine and has batch injector firing like the OEM system.

In answer to the question about poor cold engine performance, there is a menu for adjustment. Quite easy to use once you connect up your Motec to the tuning app on a laptop.
My M4 was bought in the days of DOS systems so I do struggle with all my Windows XP and 10 PCs and laptops to get the M4 tuning app to run.

Thanks for the input Richard. Originally the M4 was fitted but the then owner had problems making it work so the M8 was fitted.

Unfortunately I dont have any programming software for it so really need to get someone to do it for me.

Thanks

Garry

You may be able to get the software on Motec website

Thanks - I will have a look and see what Ican find but I will be wary of making adjustments myself.

I sure would be very careful too
allowing remote access to someone who knows what he does would be my approach
