Oil filter housing size and thread

Hello,

I have a XJ6 oil filter housing.
Does anyone know the size and Thread of the filter.
I want to use this in a MK1, and need a not to high filter, as space is tight

This from memory, so not conclusive: I believe it is a 1"-12 thread, also used on some Porsche.

Edit: found a number of parts vendors indicating the XJ6 is indeed a 1"-12 thread.

You can use the filter for an XK8. They are externally more compact than an XJ6 filter, but have more than adequate capacity for 2500 mile changes.

Here’s what I use. This is the Porsche 911 filter.

In this day and age of 5000 to 8000 mile change intervals, that is such a quaint notion, anymore!

It will work for extended OCI, with synthetic. Does anyone do extended OCI with their old XK?

Benz has been 10,000 miles for years.

Here’s the XK8 filter, it’s more compact than either the Porsche or XJ6 filters:

Hehehe… like clockwork!!

I wasn’t suggesting that anybody do it with an old crappy, carbureted engine: I just said it was a quaint notion compared to modern engine management systems and engines.

I had an XJ6 filter head on the 2+2 and used the Wix filter for an XJ6. Tucked down there where my hands and arms seldom ventured, I wasn’t worried about how big the filter housing was.

This is the setup I have on my XK150, but it wil never fit a MK1, as room is very limited.
maximum filter length for the MK1 is 10Cm

Delco PF605G is the most compact:

Bosch3978 is another “short” alternative:

Both parts are unknown here in Europe ( the Netherlands.)
But I found some alternatives.
