Oil syntetic or mineral

Used oil mineral o syntetic for engine e trasmission automatic?

Use the engine oil and trans fluid for your car as the manufacturers recommended.

Mineral 20w50 for your v12 will do well.

Oh, and yes Type F for the transmission.

I expect that the OP has a Borg Warner 12 - as we do in our XJ6. It should have the old “F” type transmission fluid. We had our specialist in Sydney rebuild our BW12 a few years ago (you get some comfort when you pull up and note there are two Rover P6’s and an old Valiant there - similar transmissions). He filled ours with synthetic transmission fluid as he claimed it made the changes a little smoother. The old BW12 is bullet proof but a bit agricultural, having said that, ours car’s BW12 is the best I’ve ever experienced. FWIW.

Welcome to Jag-Lovers. What is the year, model, engine type, and transmission type in the Jaguar that you are asking about?

Paul

Jaguar xj12 serie1 year 1972 e Borg Warner mod. 12.
Grazie thanks

Dexron III is also smoother, but that leads to a little more wear I heard.

Bands properly adjusted, the wear is minimal, David - and the wear difference in those fluids negligible , if any…

I agree, and I use Dexron III too - costs a lot less and little difference :slightly_smiling_face:
