Order of assembly downpipes heat shield

Reminded me which jobs aren’t I’m resigned to the fact it’s going to be a struggle so I meditated before Lol

my problem was I didn’t have the sealing “biscuits” down far enough on the pipe. Cleaned up the pipes, a little grease, light taps with the wide side of a 2 x 6.

THEN I found out that my cleverness in bending the heat shield away from the transmission…resulted in the shield touching one of the pipes…not easy to bend back on the car. I guess I could have taken it all down again and bent the shield neatly…um no. I now have a brand new mangled shield.

That’s when I learned that you don’t have to take the console out of an E type to drop the engine!

Let’s see reverse lite after it’s lowered
Speedo cable
Transmission vent
Shifter has to come through the boot
You must be going out the bottom on a lift ?
Tell me more

Speedo cable

-Engine/trans comes down far enough to disconnect
it

Transmission vent

-comes down with eng/trans.

Shifter has to come through the boot

-unscrew the knob, take off jam nut, slides right out of the boot.

You must be going out the bottom on a lift ?

-Yes: had an alignment rack that was the perfect height.

what is the position of the gear lever during this? Neutral?

I think neutral was where I put it.
