Orphan Bonnet Striker Plate

This came to me in a box of Mark V parts.
It would seem to be from a Jag with a front latching bonnet.
Can anyone identify it?

Has it been modified with that corner cut off?

Not cut off after the fact that I know of.
Here is one on my XK120, with the corner cut off to allow access to the cable adjustment screw.

The difference being this orphan is flat in the center where the 120 angles down in the center.
