OT -- but Christmas IS just around the corner

Developed in partnership with Cosworth, the naturally aspirated V12 engine will produce 1,000 bhp and deliver a maximum rpm of 11,100. Despite these heady figures, the powerplant weighs in at just 206kg and complies with all relevant emissions standards, according to Aston Martin. Peak torque from the combustion engine will be 740Nm at 7,000 rpm (that equals 545 FT/LB torque), but overall performance figures will be boosted by a battery hybrid system, details of which are yet to be released. The Valkyrie, designed by Adrian Newey, is being pitched by its developers as the fastest street-legal car in the world.

To keep weight to an absolute minimum, the major castings - including the block, cylinder heads, sump and structural cam covers - are machined from solid material. This also includes the Titanium conrods and F1-spec pistons.

Those with odontophobia need not apply – nor those lacking the £2,500,000 entry fee (= $3,150,000). (Caveat: Aston Martin has already confirmed that all examples of the Valkyrie have been promised to customers who will receive first orders from next year. )

Oh darn. I just checked and they’re all sold now.

Truly astonishing!

An engine for a street car, that is emission-compliant (good thing), massively powerful (gooder thing), and sounds like a banshee with its ass on fire (GOODEST thing!).

10 years ago, most FI teams would have sold their collective souls to have that kind of performance.

If the choke lever doesn’t make that “click - click - click” sound, I’m not interested.
