OT, My TC/Q Special is finished

Wow, Mitch! That’s gorgeous! If I am interpreting what I see correctly, the supercharger is fed by a single SU. How many liters does the engine have? I would think that the supercharger would demand more air flow capability than a single carb could provide, but obviously, that’s not the case.

1,250 cc. I’m no expert… The carb (1.5" throat) only feeds one cylinder at a time on a 4 cylinder engine. 1/2 revolution, 1/4 the engine’s capacity (2 revolutions, 1,250cc). That carb will easily feed a single cylinder 312cc engine. Same goes for the blower. It only has to move 1,250cc on every 2 revolutions plus some to build a little pressure. Normally aspirated XPAG engines have 2 SU’s but they are quite a bit smaller. There are plenty of cars that used the same engine platform with a single carb.

Here’s a shot of the original eitght 1943 MG Q-Types. Like a fine Swiss watch… I could quibble about that braided fuel line though. It doesn’t belong there.

I’d love to get my hands on that brass air cleaner.
