Overdrive speedo angle drive question

I’m restoring a 1971 Series 3 and will be putting in a 4 speed with overdrive from an XJ6. I don’t have the speedo angle drive. Do I need to source an angle drive specific to this gearbox or are there other options? I don’t have experience with this. Thanks in advance.

My memory is a bit hazy, but IIRC, the speedo angle drive is just 1:1 ratio, so reuse the old one. (The only difference I remember is that they are handed, so a RHD car uses a mirror image one of that in a LHD car because the cable has to point the other way.) The gearbox end angle drives came in two varieties, 1:1 and 11:14 ratios. If the gearbox end angle drive comes out on the other side of the tunnel vis-a-vis just the standard 4speed box, then that is also handed so needs to be replaced if it doesn’t fit the tunnel.
kind regards

Thanks.

I don’t have one at all which is why I’m asking if I need something specific to the XJ6 4 speed with overdrive 'box.

@John_Walker knows a source that will custom make you an angle drive

No, I know a source that will make a converter box that is spliced into the speedometer cable. Essentially you send them your speedometer cable marked where you want the box to be, it’s smaller than a pack of playing cards. I marked my cable so that the box sits on the top of the transmission. You tell them what ratio you have. I told them I was moving from a 3.54 diff to a 3.058 and they set up the gearing in the box so that the speedometer read as if there was still a 3.54 diff back there. They make up the converter box and put new fittings where they cut you cable so you wind up with two short cables with the box in the middle. I’ve had it installed about 5 years and it works perfectly and it’s as accurate as it was before the diff swap.
