Parts compatibility among jags

I was wondering
Does anyone know of a parts compatibility chart or program comparing the various jag models
indicating which parts are common and interchangeable.I know jag tried to use parts from other models and years to save money
It would be good to know at these flee market auctions etc

There used to be something like that on this site, before the change. Can’t remember much about it, except that it was useful.

It would be a great resource if it could be found and or resurrected.
Relay 6RA for instance was used across the board on many sedans as well as E Types.
I bet many electrical switches and motors were shared as well.
Suspension components too…

There are fifty or sixty types of 6RA. Three, four or five pins. Some with internal resistance. Some are simple switching relays, some are switchover relays. Some with sealed bases for extreme service. There are fast closing relays for things like horns, relays with low current coils for things like alternators, and the unique double contact relay used in later cars for the starter. ALL of them are 6RA’s, ALL of them have 20a contacts, and nobody has a reliable and complete list of PN’s and features. And most are NLA, anyway. So sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. The good news is that with the exception of relays which have internal resistors, any 6RA can be replaced with a 30a DIN (“Bosch”) switchover relay, or you can get simple DIN switching relays to replace three pin or four pin applications. I’ve even seen subminature DIN relays installed inside Lucas cases.

There is this on the old site:

The Jag-lovers Parts Interchange Guide

This link shows the site navigation for the old version of J-L

Like this? I think I got this off the old site.
I have it as an excel file, but looks like it doesn’t paste to the site correctly.

Thks Mike I added it to my files I was hoping there would be something more jag specific between models such as say rotors or distributors used on various models Cheers

@Jagjim1 - I post this knowing I may teaching you how to suck an egg
BUT
by using SNG Barratt’s website, you can find some cross-fertilizing info.

I used your example of a distributor and focused down the cap

Barratt’s lists this as a genuine replacement

Distributor Cap

Genuine
Brand:Jaguar
Product Code:JLM9523
$49.30

“Page Down” for a screen (at least on my lap top) and you come to a tab called
Suitable For
and Barratt’s says that distributor cap also fits:

Classic Saloons
420 Saloon
Daimler Sovereign
Mk II / Mk 2 2.4 & 240
Mk II / Mk 2 3.4, 3.8 & 340
Mk X / Mk 10 3.8
Mk X / Mk 10 4.2
S-Type 3.4, 3.8

XJ Models
Daimler Sovereign S1
XJ6 S1

XKE / E-Type
E-Type S1 3.8 DHC
E-Type S1 3.8 FHC
E-Type S1 4.2 2+2
E-Type S1 4.2 DHC
E-Type S1 4.2 FHC
E-Type S1.5 2+2
E-Type S1.5 DHC
E-Type S1.5 FHC
E-Type S2 2+2
E-Type S2 DHC
E-Type S2 FHC

Admittedly this is a simplistic example but this resource may work for other items

Thks Craig I figured that was one way but I’ve not used SNG I’ve also got several old paper catalogs to cross reference but it’s a slow process was hoping for something more real time. The SNG site is probably as good as it will get
Cheers
