Lower Radiator Hose - S1 4.2 Question

OK, I found he correct lower one piece radiator hose for my 70 S2 on Amazon. For future reference it is a Gates number 22082 and it came with a spring already inside. Thanks All, Joe

Does the one for the 4.2 have a Spring?

Wait, what? I don’t recall any of the cooling hoses on my 4.2 S1 having a spring or springs in or around. I also carry an extra set in the boot…

I didn’t see a spring in my lower S1 radiator hose piece either. It’s just a straight piece so there’s no need.

I think the spring reference is for a hose that also replaces the long metal pipe as well. Because of the curvature in a hose of that shape and size, a spring is important to help maintain its integrity.

He’s talking about substituting a one piece hose for the compound hose arrangement. The one piece hose is more prone to collapsing under suction, so a spring is advisable.

Hey all - thanks for all the feedback/input! A few data points to share based on what I’ve found - The threads on the fill and drain plugs are 3/4" BSPT. I tracked down Jaguar p/n JLM1263, which looks to be a magnetic plug with the proper thread, but many vendors are out of stock or list it as discontinued. SNG has that p/n as superseded by p/n 607172J, but it doesn’t mention anything about a magnet, and the picture shown doesn’t look like it has one. I may be wrong (I didn’t call them). I w…

Heater blower and Fan Replacement Series 1

Hi Many thanks, Alls well now new, IVR fitted , next problem is lights or the lack of them in the Tacho , SNG cant supply these replacements I have bought 2 lampholders for the speedo & a quick mod to the lighting loom & left an insulated tail ready for the tacho lights , i have some lampholders coming & hope the will fit as the tubes they have to fit in are smaller than the speedo .
