Plastic and Aluminium radiator weeping

I just replaced the radiator in my '03 X-type due to the original radiator weeping. I strongly suspect the seal on the left side as the culprit. I am wondering if anyone has tried having their original unit resealed/overhauled? Has anybody ever tried just tightening the crimps that hold the sides to the body? I am just wondering what others have tried when it comes to these POS ‘modern’ units that are in cars nowadays. It’s such a PITA to remove/replace them, that I suspect a new replacement unit will be the typical treatment option.

AFAIK, there is no effective and long-term way to repair plastic-aluminum composite radiators: they’re a consumable component.

That pretty well sums it up. I kind of figured as much, with the price of new ones and the hourly wage of a radiator shop. Semi-planned obsolescence is pervasive now.
