Ok,
Update I had the piston bored in the center about 1/8 inch to locate the spring. I cut the rod by the extra amount of material in the piston at the top. The new spring was 1-1/2+ coils taller, so I cut it off 3 coils so it was shorter than the original spring by the amount the piston added compared to the original. Assembled the accumulator and filled with oil. It bench tested good and had good pressure. Thanks all!

Once you get the car about 50 ish is when it kicks in?
I called John and several others. Was told NLA so did what needed to get done then. This way the piston is much thicker at the top, so hopefully wonāt break easily.
