MKX and 420G FSM describes procedure of accessing the lower bolt via long extensions from the rear behind the trans
Not a whisper of the special plate on the trans tunnel whose SOLE purpose in life is to access said bolt
remove console, lift carpet, and a small oval plate 6 self-tap screws…place spanner right on lower bolt!
this plate is present on my '69 420G, a '68 420G and an early '66 MKX
its horrible doing it as per manual…lol the points of self-tappers cut my fingers trying to get socket on head
MUCH easier at installation. The top bolt can be accessed from directly above
Its possible this plate was added some time AFTER intro of MKX in '62, and the FSM was not updated, but the '66 is an early 4.2, that has a separate FSM, so its a puzzle (and big deficiency)
