Radio Code 1990 Xj6

I just bought a OEM radio from a USA delivered 1990 XJ6 during my vacation. I can’t immediately test it. Would it need a code? If so, is there a way to get it withOUT the dealer?

Thanks!

Richard

All the 1990MY XJ sedans I have worked on and owned needed the radio code.
You might be able to call a dealer with the serial number on the side of the head unit so they can look up the code?

They might reply that it is too old and the info is NLA?

If it’s the AJ9200R try here

The original radio in my 1990 XJ6 (US spec) did not need a code but I later upgraded to a circa 1992 radio and 6 disc CD player, and it does need a code.

There must be a VIN split and you might be correct with the coding starting with the 1991/92 cars???

I failed to mention it was originally sold in Canada.

I tried the radio, and it did NOT require a code. Radio works fine, but the cassette has issues. I will start a separate thread!

Hello everyone, I also have a rather important problem for me. I had to change the battery in the car and after changing it, the radio cd asks me for a code to unlock it, which I don’t have and can be obtained with the serial number. I opened it and got its serial number:20913733
Then I searched the internet for a tool that can unlock my radio and I came across this site which is like a tool for unlocking the radio. Has anyone used it so far? Did he give you the correct code for the cd radio?

I doubt that it will work as they do not list Jaguars, try this;

If you cannot come up with the radio code (sometimes the code [4 digits] is on a label on the underside of the hood [bonnet]) this may be of help:

EDIT: Sorry, backtracking up this thread that was begun 3-1/2 years ago I see this information was previously posted.
