Raise and lower roof

Hi everyone,

Just got my XK OTS back from a major restoration and will no doubt have many questions. First dumb one: can anyone advise the process for raising and lowering the canvas roof without crushing a finger?! I had terrible trouble doing it on my own. It looks to be straight and well adjusted once up but I had terrible trouble getting it to fold up or down smoothly. Is there a specific order of events to follow? Is there a youtube video or similar around?

Appreciate any advice.

Dave

Dave,

If you have a 120 or 140 OTS, it’s best to raise and lower the top with two people. Besides protecting your fingers it will help protect the paint on the rear tonneau as you transition the top from behind the seats. While developing a technique for safely raising and stowing the top, consider placing a blanket on the rear tonneau to help protect the paint.

Nearly all the time I drive my 120 OTS it’s with the top down. For that reason, I typically leave my top at home instead of stowed behind the seats blocking access to the batteries.

Thanks very much for the reply, Mike.
